Kali Meria (In Progress)
The photographic series “Kali Meria” is both a topographical and experiential documentation of Kalamaria. A geographically young district, yet laden with memories from Pontus and Asia Minor — the place where refugees of the 1922 Asia Minor Catastrophe first settled. The series maps the area from Aretsou, with its historic disinfection facilities and the Fishermen’s Krini area, to the newer neighborhoods of Agios Ioannis and Kifissia. Through the images, the layers of the place are traced: the history, culture, and traditions that were carried here and took root. From Apollon Kalamarias and the Brotherhood of Kromnians to the traces of everyday life, the refugee element runs through the series as living memory. “Kali Meria” does not merely record a place — it narrates its identity.
